From: Andrew Heckt Reply-To: Legend of the Five Rings Discussion List To: L5RINFO@ORACLE.WIZARDS.COM Subject: [L5RINFO] Press release regarding AEG and Wizards of the Coast Date: Wed, 21 Jun 2000 10:03:22 -0700 To the Legend of the Five Rings community: As many of you know, Wizards of the Coast has worked closely with Alderac Entertainment Group (AEG) over the past several years to develop the award-winning storyline for the Legend of the Five Rings™ (L5R) trading card game and roleplaying game. We are going to move future development for the L5R trading card game to Wizards of the Coast. It is our ongoing goal to develop, produce, and publish products of impeccable quality and value for our customers. We feel that by bringing the development of the L5R trading card game to Wizards of the Coast, we will have the opportunity to become more involved with our fans in terms of the depth and speed at which they can effect the L5R story. "This change will in no way affect our relationship with AEG. It is still very strong and positive. We want to thank AEG for all of their hard work on the L5R card game, and Wizards is looking forward to working with AEG on the other L5R games," said Luke Peterschmidt, L5R brand manager. "While we’re sorry to see the card game go, we are excited about the L5R products we are working on and look forward to working with Wizards of the Coast on future projects," said John Zinser, president of AEG. AEG will continue to design and develop the award-winning L5R roleplaying game and the L5R Clan Wars miniatures game. Wizards of the Coast and AEG will work together to ensure a smooth transition of the L5R card game, with the Gold Edition set as the final set with which AEG will be involved. Sincerely, Wizards of the Coast
